Southport & Ainsdale Amateurs (h) 2 - 4 (ht.-) scorers : O. Jones 2 The lads went down in our season opener to a very game and direct Southport and Ainsdale who took advantage of our high pressing line by whipping the ball over our heads at will. A couple of individual errors to iron out and a bit of tightening up on the shape to work on but nice to see some lovely football on display. The comeback is always greater than the setback. |

Highgrove (a) 2 - 5 (ht.-) scorers : L. Bell 2 A disappointing away day. The lads never really got going until minute 30 and then had a spell either side of half time which saw us level at 2-2 with half an hour to go, and us starting to enjoy some possession and turn the screw. Then a controversial red card for our goalkeeper saw us play the remainder of the game with 10 and no recognised keeper in the ranks. Rug pulled from under us and a loss on the road. A hell of a lot to work on - we go again away at Walmer Bridge next Saturday. |
